Mice and rats are the biggest pest problem around Bacchus Marsh. In big mouse years, numbers can climb very quickly. Signs include scratching at night, droppings in cupboards and drawers, chewed food packets, gnawed wiring and a musty smell.
The crew we book starts by finding out what you have, whether that is house mice, roof rats or Norway rats, and where they are travelling. They check the roof space and subfloor where access allows, the garage and any sheds, and the outside of the house for gaps. Lockable bait stations are then placed along runways and near nesting spots, where children, pets and farm animals cannot get to them.

Baiting works better when food and shelter are cut back. Store grain, chook feed and pet food in metal bins with tight lids, collect fallen fruit, and keep hay and firewood stacked off the ground and away from the house. Steel wool, mesh and door seals close off small gaps, as mice can get through a hole the width of a pencil.
